Remedial Myotherapy

  • Remedial Myotherapy

In a Myotherapy session, you will find different approaches to treat pain and movement restrictions that might be produced by dysfunction or injuries at muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, bursas, joint structures, nerves, and skin.

Myotherapy has its foundation in western medical principles of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and pathology. It includes a range of manual therapies to ease a client’s pain, including soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation, myofascial cupping therapy, dry needling, myofascial release, corrective and rehabilitative exercise, taping, electric stimulation, and advice on muscle and pain management.

A Myotherapy session will consider a wide range of orthopaedic, neurologic and functional testing to gain a thorough understanding of a client’s physical state, depending on their presentation. This will also include collecting information about life’s style, clinical history, mental health, hobbies, as well as other treatments, medications and supplements that clients might be taking.

As a form of physical therapy, Myotherapy is part of allied health services, in line with Chiropractors, Osteopath and Physiotherapy, that differentiates from previous practitioners by having a more holistic view and a focused hands-on approach to prevent, treat and manage pain, neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions, together with injuries and chronic conditions.
